Game logic
The first sequence contains three digits. Each correct round adds one digit; the run ends on the first incorrect submitted sequence.
Three digits becomes four. Four becomes five. Eventually your brain files a complaint.
Memorise the digits. Each round adds one more.
Memorise an increasingly long number, wait for it to disappear and reproduce it using the on-screen keypad.
The first sequence contains three digits. Each correct round adds one digit; the run ends on the first incorrect submitted sequence.
The meaningful score is the longest sequence you actually completed correctly, not the length of the failed sequence. Rounds cleared are also shown separately.
If you complete 3, 4, 5 and 6 digits but fail on 7, the completed level is 6 and four rounds were cleared.
This browser game is not a clinical working-memory assessment. Screen size, distraction and strategy can influence performance.
Remembering a growing sequence of digits uses attention, temporary storage and often strategy. The score is interesting, but it is not a complete measure of intelligence or memory health.
A digit-span style task presents a short sequence, removes it, then asks you to reconstruct the order. That makes order memory just as important as remembering the individual digits.
People often group digits into pairs, dates or familiar patterns. That can improve performance because the remembered units become larger chunks rather than isolated characters.
A notification, conversation or momentary lapse during presentation can destroy a sequence. Repeated attempts under similar conditions are more informative than a single failure.
Short-term digit recall is not the same as remembering names, learning a skill or recalling events from years ago. A low score here does not mean “bad memory” in general.
| Signal | What it is useful for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Longest sequence | Peak span in this format | Sensitive to lucky trials |
| Typical span | Repeated range | Better personal baseline |
| Chunked span | Strategy-assisted performance | Shows technique as well as storage |
| Long-term memory | Not measured here | Different memory systems |
Working-memory tasks can correlate with other cognitive measures in research, but a browser digit game is not a standardized intelligence assessment.
