⏱️ MONEY VS TIME

What does that little recurring expense cost in life-hours?

A coffee, subscription or habit can look very different when translated into work time.

ASSUMPTIONS & INTERPRETATION

Money vs Time

Turn a recurring expense into annual spending and then into the equivalent amount of current paid work-time.

Estimate model

Weekly costs are annualised with ×52 and monthly costs with ×12. The annual spend is divided by your estimated take-home hourly value.

What the number means

Use the result to make an abstract recurring amount easier to feel. It does not decide whether the expense is wasteful or valuable.

Worked example

€10 each week is about €520 per year; at €11.54 per hour that is roughly 45 work-hours.

Good to know

Your real finances include many things this deliberately simple comparison does not model, including savings goals and opportunity cost.
